Southern Valley Cusco


This Tour Starting with the visit to the beautiful Inca water temple at Tipon. From here you carry on to the extensive Pre-Inca site of Pikillacta which was constructed by the Wari culture who occupied the Cusco region before the arrival of the Inca and finally visit the church of Andahuayillas which is known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas due to its ornate decorations.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • The archaeological site of Tipón is located near Oropesa in the community of Choquepata, 27 km away. to the southeast of Cusco, next to the Cusco-Puno highway. It contains enclosures, terraces and an intact canal.
  • Tipón is in the list of the 16 most important archaeological sites for the tourist that visits Cusco. 
  • Piquillacta is an archaeological site formed by the remains of a pre-Hispanic city. It is located in the district of Lucre, province of Quispicanchi, department of Cusco, southeast of the city of Cusco, in the basin of the Lucre River and Vilcanota.
  • Piquillacta was one of the most important administrative centers of the Wari culture, between the VI to IX centuries of our era, and represents the planned wari urbanism par excellence.
